My fiancee and I tried Louise's for the first time yesterday evening. I got the shrimp creole, and she got the fried oyster po'boy.
I was stunned by the presentation of the creole when I opened the box. The dish was full of nicely diced, colorful vegetables, fresh shrimp, a large scoop of rice, a buttered baguette slice, and a garnish of chopped green onions. Somehow, the taste was even better. The right balance of tomato and spices made this one of the best choices I'd made all week.
Of course, I had to have a few bites of my fiancee's fried oyster po'boy. She got it topped with lettuce only, which proved to be a great decision. Like the shrimp, the oysters were fresh, tender, and free of any grit. The breading on the oysters is terrific -- it is flavorful without taking anything away from the oysters themselves. The baguette was crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The crisp chopped lettuce added great texture.
If you can't tell by this review, I'd definetely go again. It is a very welcomed change from the usual burgers, pizza, and subs -- the typical Garner/Clayton fare. I really encourage all of you to go out to Louise's, and to tell your friends about it. I'd love to see them expand their menu -- at a 100 seat full-service restaurant!
